So, here is The Inexpert Painter blog, second edition.
Without covering in detail what I have been doing over the last couple of years, let's just say I've been painting a variety of figures for a number of rule sets. These include Warhammer 30K (Emperor's Children), Tanks (Germans, British, Russians), as well as a Chinese Army for Hammerhead 2016 (using Neil Thomas' One Hour Wargames).
Just lately, the majority of my time had been taken up painting up a lot of 15mm T-34 tanks. These were for this years Hammerhead show where my friend and I are putting on a Tanks demo game, The Battle of Prokhorovka (10 of them in the end). Sadly, the Hammerhead show was cancelled due to 'The Beast From the East' (no, not my tanks). However, it has be rescheduled for April 28 so, afterwards, I will be posting some pictures of my Russians in desperate battle against the German invader.
So, to more recent matters.
I'm sticking with World War II in 15mm. However, this time I have switched my attention to Libya and, at the moment, am preparing a game based around the Battle of Gazala, more specifically, the fighting around the Knightsbridge Box. This is intended for another Hammerhead show (2020 to be precise - nothing like planning ahead, is there). The rules that I will be using on this occasion are a set that I am writing myself, entitled 'For Valour'.
Up to yet, progress on the rules is moving along. I did an initial
draft and playtested them a few times with my friend, Andy Gilliver. However, I came to realise that, for me, they were a little too simplistic. Hence I have begun again, pretty much from scratch (updates to follow).

On the model front, I've managed 5 tanks up to yet - a Panzer III, Panzer IV, a Grant and 2 Crusaders. These tanks will be given their first run Tomorrow (weather permitting) when I take on my son, James, in a Tanks battle. This will also allow me to use the first items of desret terrain I've put together - a dozen floor tiles covered with sandpaper as well as the centre piece - a n objective based on the sign placed at the road junction in the vicinity of the battle.
Well, that's all for now. Stay tuned for next months post which should include more models/scenery, a few comments on Hammerhead and a few other battle reports.
